IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?

Treatment by the Assure 210, based on Nd:YAG  laser technology, is extremely safe. Laser hair removal was introduced after more than 30 years of laser research and clinical trials by physicians at more than 10 laser U.S. and Canadian research centers. Certified laser specialist provides all treatments.

DOES THE LASER HURT?

Most patients experience a slight stinging sensation while the laser pulses are applied. For sensitive patients, Ice packs and/or topical anesthetic cream (EMLA) be applied to eliminate any unpleasant sensations.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE SKIN AFTER THE TREATMENT?

Within several minutes of the treatment, the treated area will be come slightly red and puffy. Treated area will return to normal condition in a few hours. Since the laser does not damage the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary, and you can return to your normal activities immediately.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Because the laser treats many hairs at a time, small facial areas (chin, lip, cheeks, etc.) can be treated in just 7-10 minutes. Longest treatments for larger body areas (full back, full legs, both arms, etc.), take about half an hour- one hour, depending upon the size of the area and the density of the hair.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

The laser works by disabling hairs that are in their active growth cycle at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter their growth cycles at different times, additional treatments are required. Usually 4 to 6 treatments are recommended at monthly intervals and up to 8 for dark skin patients.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Compared to a lifetime of waxing, shaving or purchasing depilatory creams, laser hair removal is very affordable. Price is based on the size of the area to be treated.

WHAT SKIN TYPES CAN BE TREATED?

Assure 210 is an Nd:YAG laser - the only type which can efficiently and safely treat all skin types.

Can tanned PATIENTS BE treated?

Yes. The Assure 210 can safely treat tanned skin.

WHY  Nd:YAG LASERS ARE PREFERRED?

•Melanin will absorb light from all types of lasers.

•In order to ensure that the highest proportion of light reaches the follicle’s depth of 5-6 mm, the Melanin in the skin should not absorb too much of the light.

•This is of great significance in allowing the treatment of dark skinned patients.

•Nd:YAG laser crystals emit light at a wavelength of 1064 nanometers (nm).

•Nd:YAG light has been shown to have a lower absorption and scattering coefficient than light of other (shorter) wavelengths, such as Alexandrite, Ruby and Diode lasers – see accompanying graph.

•Therefore, more Nd:YAG light will reach the hair’s follicle with sufficient Energy level to disable it, with little risk of damaging the skin.

ADVANTAGES OF THE ASSURE 210 Nd:YAG LASER

•Highest output Energy of any Nd:YAG laser in the world (80 Joules), allowing higher Fluences using larger Spot Sizes.

•Largest Spot Size (13 mm diameter), allowing higher Efficiency and Effectiveness (through deeper penetration of laser pulse).

•Comes with a handpiece with 3 interchangeable probes providing Spot Sizes of 7, 10 and 13 mm.

•Long Pulse Duration (up to 50 ms) – adjustable to shorter settings.

•Adjustable repetition rate (single shot, or repeating pulses from one per half-second to one every 2 seconds).

TREATMENT

•Patient comfort is managed by proper preparation and appropriate treatment of potential discomfort.

•Patient should be informed that Effectiveness is hard to predict precisely and multiple treatments will be required – usually 4-5 for light skin and more (up to 8) for dark skin.

•Medical history must be obtained and patient should be referred to their doctor if in doubt.

•A test area should be treated to pre-determine the patient’s tolerance level for the desired Fluence.

Area should be shaved 1-2 days before treatment.

•If required a topical anesthetic should be applied as directed.

•Skin cooling may be applied pre-treatment and immediately post-treatment as required, using either an ice pack or an optional forced air cooling system.

•Disabled hair will be rejected by the body over the following 1-2 weeks – it will fall out.
